Preventive inspection

Inspections and scheduled maintenance to preserve the efficiency of your warehouse

Technical inspection and maintenance of shelving

Safety and regulatory compliance for the integrity of your warehouse

The inspection audit is an intervention required by the standard UNI EN 15635 (Steel static storage systems – Use and maintenance of storage equipment), since metal shelving is to be considered work equipment in all respects under Legislative Decree 81/08. The inspection by an expert technician involves assessing the condition of the warehouse shelving. The standard UNI EN 15635 also states that the warehouse user is responsible for having the technical inspection carried out at least once a year. If the shelving is found non-compliant, our technical department will prepare a quote for restoring the damaged components. Only after the damaged components have been restored will the warehouse be declared fit for use, with a certificate to show the competent authorities on request.

THE NORMATIVE.

The responsibility of the user

The purpose of this standard is to minimise risks and achieve safer warehouse operation, avoiding damage to the shelving structure.

We take up some of the main points of Noma UNI EN 15635:

  • As stated above, only a qualified and certified technician may carry out the warehouse inspection (inspections may not be more than 12 months apart).
  • At the end of the inspection a written report is drawn up, listing the damage found and the replacements needed to make the installation compliant
  • Inside the warehouse, load signs must be clearly visible so you can check whether the installation's characteristics are correct or have been altered
  • Damaged components may not be repaired unless expressly authorised by the supplier of the storage system.
  • The company using the installation must appoint a person responsible for storage equipment safety (PRSES).

INSPECTION PLAN

During the inspection our technician carries out the following checks:

  • General condition of the shelving
  • Checking whether pallet storage is done properly
  • Visibility of range signs
  • Adequacy of range signs
  • Load units correspond to the weight allowed by the load capacity placard
  • Cleanliness and tidiness of the warehouse and aisles
  • Condition of shelving protections
  • Identification of components that need replacing, marked with magnetic labels
  • Condition or any defects in the floor
  • Reporting of possible risks to employees/operators, including any need to unload the load unit from the shelving immediately.
  • Shelving alignment and levelness
